Half Crown, Queen Victoria, Jubilee Head
Silver half crown (1/8 of a pound) coin of Great Britain, issued in the name of Queen Victoria. This was the second of a series of 3 coins - the obverse has the portrait of Queen Victoria - crowned and veiled head, also called the 'Jubilee Head'. The legend around her head in Latin reads 'Victoria by the Grace of God'. The reverse has the crowned, quartered shield of arms. The bottom right of Victoria's bust has the letters JEB - initials of Joseph Edgar Boehm - the engraver.
These coins are larger than the Indian silver rupee and have a slightly higher silver content (92.5%).
