1/4 Rupee, East India Company, Alamgir II, 1172
Silver 1/4 Rupee coin minted in the name of Mughal Emperor Alamgir II, by the East India Company (Madras Presidency). These coins have a frozen date of 1172 (Islamic Calendar) on the obverse side. The reverse has the Regnal Year 6 and the mint mark of a rose. The coin says it was stuck at the Arcot mint, but these coins were minted in Calcutta.
