1/4 Rupee, East India Company, Shah Alam, 1204
Silver 1/4 Rupee coins minted by the East India Company (Bengal Presidency) in the name of Mughal emperor Shah Alam. There are 2 separate types of coins - 16.6 mm diameter and 17 mm diameter - see picture for comparison. Both the coins carry the date 1202 (Islamic calendar). However, they were minted in different years - the larger diameter coin was minted in 1793 AD while the smaller diameter coin was minted in 1831 AD. The weights are 2.9 grams and 2.92 grams (approx).
