1 Rupee, Alwar, Various Years
1 Rupee silver coin of the Indian Princely State of Alwar, minted from 1877-1882, jointly in the name of Maharao Raja Mangal Singh Bahadur (reverse) and Empress Victoria (obverse). These coins were identical to the British India silver rupee of Empress Victoria - in size, weight, design and silver content (0.917). The only difference was the design on the reverse of the coin - see picture 3 for comparison.
These coins were minted in very limited numbers - approximately 1 million in all over a 5 year period, compared to regular 1 rupee coins of Victoria - of which over 1 billion were minted!
