1840, 1 Rupee, Victoria Queen, Divided Legend
1 Rupee silver coin of East India Company, in the name of Queen Victoria, with the frozen date 1840. This was the second of the uniform coinage rupees minted in India (after the 1835 William IIII rupee).
These coins were minted in Calcutta, Bombay and Madras mints.
Note the raised letters "WW' in the neck of Victoria's head - they are the initials of William Wyon, the chief engraver of the Royal Mint.
