One Quarter Anna, George V, 1911
Bronze coins of 1 quarter anna, minted in 1911 in the name of George V. These are the (in)famous pig-coins - the elephant on the King's robe, depicting the order of the Indian empire had short legs and a short trunk (resembling a pig's snout).
Since pig is considered unclean, many people refused to accept these coins, and they had to be recalled and melted. New coins were issued in 2012 with a more clearly recognizable elephant.
