100 Riyals, Iran, 1985-2005, Overstamp
100 Riyal banknote of Iran, with an image of Ayatollah Sayyid Hassan Modarres, an Iranian religious leader and an influential politician, who had opposed Reza Shah Pahlavi, and was exiled and murdered (in 1937). The reverse carries the image of the Iranian parliament.
These notes carry an over-stamp - done privately - congratulating people on the 1400th anniversary of Imam Hossein's martyrdom. Imam Hossein is one of the most influential figures in Shia Islam. Such over-stamps are done privately as gifts, souvenirs, or entry tokens for events like religious gatherings, pilgrimages, or commemorations.
