1 Dollar, Canada, Centennial of Confederation, 1967
One dollar commemorative banknote of Canada, issued on the occasion of Centennial of the Confederation in 1967. In 1867, a number of British colonies in North America united to form the Dominion of Canada - this included the province of Canada (later split into modern day Ontario and Quebec), Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick. This was a peaceful integration - not like the American revolution, and was driven by economic integration, as well as the perceived military threat from the United States at that time. The obverse of the banknote carries a portrait of a young Queen Elizabeth - then monarch of Canada, while the reverse has an image of the original parliament building of Canada (burnt down in 1916).
Size: 152 mm* 67 mm
