1 Peso Ley, Argentina, 1970-73
1 Peso Ley banknote of Argentina (1970-73). This was a new currency (Ley system) introduced in 1970 - exchanging 100 old pesos for 1 new Peso Ley. The obverse of the note features General Belgrano - a key figure in Argentine independence. The reverse has a landscape of a well known Argentine national park, representing the country's natural beauty. The Peso Ley remained in circulation till 1983 - because of high inflation - when it was replaced by Peso Argentino at the rate of 1 Peso Arg = 10,000 Peso Ley.
