
1 Taka, Bangladesh, Second Issue (1973-76)
1 Taka note of Bangladesh, printed from 1973-76, third issue after the independence of Bangladesh. The obverse features a hand holding a rice plant - rice is the staple food of Bangladesh, while the reverse features the national emblem of Bangladesh - a water lily.
This was the second issue of 1 taka notes of Bangladesh - the first issue were printed in Nasik, India, but were discontinued quickly due to concerns of counterfeiting. These notes were printed by Thomas De la Rue, a printer based in UK, and carry a number of security features. The serial number of the notes is in Bangla. These notes were issued by the Central Bank and carry the signature of the finance secretary - earlier notes were issued directly by the Central government.
