Banknotes of Iran

Iran has seen major political upheavals in the past 50 years, with the 1979 revolution, the Iran-Iraq war (1980-88), and the US-Iran war (2026). It has been subjected to sanctions, and has also faced economic hardship. These political and economic challenges can be seen on Iranian currency as well - which change from Shah Muhammad Reza Pahlavi to figures of the revolution, and the high denominations (500,000 riyal, 2 million riyal) hinting at inflation and economic crisis.
