50 paisa commemorative coin issued in 1964, on death of Jawaharlal Nehru (1889-1964) - the first Prime Minister of India. This was (together with the corresponding 1 rupee coin) the first commemorative coin to be issued in India. This coin carries Nehru's name in Hindi. There is another variant that has the name in English. These coins are made of nickel.
