1 Rupee, Hyderabad, 1895-1901
Silver 1 rupee coin of the Princely State of Hyderabad, minted in the reign of Mir Mahbub Ali Khan. The full legend in Urdu read as "92 Asaf Jah, Nizam Al-Mulk bahadur. Persian letter M" for Mahbub above "k" of "Mulk". The year is as per the Islamic calendar and is divided. These coins were minted from AH 1312-1318 or 1895-1901 AD.
Mahbub Ali Khan was the youngest (and the sole surviving) son of Afzal ud Daulah at the time of latter's death in 1869, and became the Nizam of Hyderabad at the age of 3 years. He was the first ruler of Hyderabad to have a Western education. He is known for expanding the rail network of Hyderabad under the Nizam's Guaranteed State Railway, a government owned rail company headquartered in Secunderabad.
