Nickel 1 rupee coin of India, minted in 1950. This was the first rupee coin minted after India became a republic - the head of the British monarch was replaced by Ashoka's Pillar on the obverse. The reverse carries the denomination of the coin, flanked by ears of grain. These coins were minted in Mumbai.
