1 Rupee paisa commemorative coin issued in 1964, on death of Jawaharlal Nehru (1889-1964) - the first Prime Minister of India. This was (together with the corresponding 50 paisa coin) the first commemorative coin to be issued in India. This coin carries Nehru's name in English. There is another variant that has the name in Hindi. These coins are made of nickel.
