1 Rupia, 1952, Portuguese India
Copper Nickel 1 Rupia coin of Portuguese India, minted in 1952. These were the first rupia coins not minted in silver. The design is very similar to the Escudo coin, which followed soon after in 1958. The obverse has a divided shield in a lined circle, with tiny towers. The reverse has a shield of arms of Portugal inside a Maltese cross.
