2.5 Kori, Kutch, Khengarji III/Edward VIII, VS 1992/1936 AD

  • Rs. 5,800.00

Silver 2.5 kori coin minted by the Kutch princely state, jointly in the name of Khengarji III - the ruler of Kutch, and Edward VIII, the British emperor. These coins were minted in Vikram Samvat 1992 or 1936 AD. The three symbols of Kutch - the trishul (trident), crescent and katar (dagger) can be seen on the front.

Coins of Kutch were minted with names of both rulers and Kutch was one of the very few polities to issues coins in the name of Edward VIII, the short lived British king whose reign lasted less than 1 year (1936) - making these coins a numismatic rarity.

The coin is in excellent condition, with all its features undamaged and clearly visible.
