Queen Elizabeth II – tezbid

Queen Elizabeth II

Queen Elizabeth is the most featured person on global banknotes - she became the ruler of British Commonwealth in 1952, when the British Empire still controlled several territories, and paper money had started to replace gold/silver for good. Her reign lasted for over 70 years - making her one of the longest serving monarchs anywhere. In South Asia, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) issued banknotes bearing her image in 1952. Regions such as British East Africa, East Caribbean, and Rhodesia & Nyasaland - all independent countries now, have issued banknotes with her image. Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and British dependencies such as Gibraltar, Jersey, and Isle of Man continued to issue banknotes with her image till 2022. The sheer geographic spread (over 30 countries) and the 7 decade time-span makes QE-II notes the single largest theme amongst note collectors.
