1/2 Rupee, 1939, George VI, Type 2/Mature Head
Half rupee silver coin of British India, minted in 1939, in the name of George VI. This was the last year this value was minted in full silver (0.917) - 1940 onward, the coins were only half silver. As a result, most of the 'full silver' coins quickly went out of circulation. These are scarce compared to half rupees from the subsequent years (1940-45).
These coins are called 'mature head' or Type II. The most notable difference between the two types is the length of the trefoils in the crown - highlighted in the third picture. Type II coins are harder to get compared to Type I.
