1 Taka, Bangladesh, 1993
1 Taka banknote of Bangladesh, printed in 1993 - bearing the signature of Nazimuddin Ahmed, the finance secretary. This was the last 1 taka note to be printed in Bangladesh. The obverse features the national emblem of Bangladesh - a water lily inside a circle flanked by rice sheaves. The reverse has 3 spotted deer. The watermark on these notes is a snarling tiger.
This is the fourth and the last design of the 1 taka banknote of Bangladesh after independence. Notes of this particular design were issued from 1982-93. In the initial years after independence, notes of Bangladesh were printed overseas - the first series was printed in Nasik, India. Bangladesh established its own security printing infrastructure in the 1970s, and while the Security Printing Corporation (Bangladesh) Ltd. (SPCBL) was established in 1988, printing of lower denomination banknotes had started by late 1970s under government supervision. As of now, Bangladesh prints all its banknotes and stamps locally.
