10 Mohru, Nepal, 1951

10 Mohru banknote of Nepal, printed in 1951. This was a part of the first series of Nepali banknotes. The obverse has the image of King Tribhuvan on the right in a plumed crown, and the watermark window with the King's image is to the left. While King Tribhuvan nominally reigned from 1911, when he was 5 years old, till 1955, his death, he ruled from 1951 onward - when the Rana family - who were powerful hereditary prime ministers, were deposed. The Guheshwori Temple - dedicated to Parvati - is in the middle. The notes carry the signature of Narendra Raj, the treasurer. The reverse carries the national crest, and the Sanskrit words 'Janani Janambhoomischa swargadapi gariyasi' - Mother and Motherland are superior to heaven.
