Nepal, 500 Rupees, 2007
500 rupee banknote of Nepal, printed in 2007, printed in the last days of King Gyanendra, the last King of Nepal. King Gyanendra ascended the throne in 2001 - after the 'Nepalese Royal Massacre', in which his brother King Birendra, Queen Aishwarya and seven other members of the Nepalese Royal family were killed by Crown Prince Dipendra, who then shot himself. King Gyanendra faced a popular Maoist uprising, and monarchy was abolished in Nepal in 2008. These banknotes were a part of the older stock (with an existing watermark) which were re-used for the Nepali Republic. These notes feature Mount Everest on the front - and a red rhododendron flower over the watermark window - covering the watermark (the Royal crown). The reverse features two tigers, one of them drinking water.
