1/2 Crown, Edward VII, 1901-1910
Silver Half Crown coins of Edward VII, with the portrait of the King on the obverse and crowned, quartered shield of arms on the reverse. The legend on the coin is in latin, and translates as "Edward the Seventh by the Grace of God King of all the Britons". George William de Saulles was the engraver who designed both sides of the coin, and his initials "DES" can be seen at the base of the King's head.
These coins are 92.5% silver - slightly higher than the Indian silver rupees of the time. These coins were minted from 1902-1910 (read more here).
