1 Fanam, Viraraya, Travancore/Ceylon
Gold 1 Fanam coins issued by the rulers of Ceylon, popularly known as the Viraraya Fanams. Originally believed to be issued by the Kingdom of Travancore, they are now known to have been issued by rulers of Sri Lanka, and may have found their way to the Indian side via trade. The obverse of the coin features a stylized lion (partial) while the reverse features a stylized boar.
