1 Jital, Kabul Shahi, Samanta Deva, 850-1000 AD
Silver 1 Jital coin of the Kabul Shahi dynasty - the Hindu rulers of Gandhara/Afghanistan, North-West Frontier Province (present day Pakistan) and North-Western India. These rulers were the successors to the Kushan Empire and the Hephthalite Huns who had empires in that region in the ancient era, and pre-date Islamic rule of the region. The obverse of the coin has a seated bull while the reverse a horse rider. This design was also used later in the billion metal Jital coins of Prithviraj Chauhan - the last Hindu ruler of Delhi. The Hindushahi dynasty was finally supplanted by the Ghaznavids.
