1 Kip, Pathet Lao, 1968-75
1 Kip issued by Pathet Lao, the communist faction in Laos. The obverse features agricultural workers in a field with a grain threshing machine, and power lines in the background. The reverse shows a clinic, where nurses are tending to infants, and other nurses are mixing medicine. These are typical communist propaganda themes.
These notes were printed from 1968-79 - Till 1975, the communist faction fought a civil war against the Royalists. The Royalists were backed by the French, and later the US - for support in the Vietnam war. Pathet Lao took over the country shortly after 1975 - when US exited Southeast Asia, and Saigon (South Vietnam) fell to North Vietnam.
Size: 120 mm* 60 mm
