1 Kori, silver, Porbandar State
Silver 1 Kori coins of Porbandar State - one of the smaller princely states of India. These coins have a frozen date (Year 978 by Islamic calendar) and the title of the ruler of Porbandar - "Shri Rana" in devnagari script. These coins were minted from 1570-1890.
The state was based around the harbor town of Porbandar in Kathiawar. Mahatma Gandhi was born in Porbandar and his grandfather as well as father had served as Diwans to the ruler of the state.
