10 Million Dinar, Republic of Srpska, 1993

10 million dinara banknote of the Republic of Srpska, an unrecognized state and one of the belligerents in the Bosnian civil war. Srpska includes those parts of Bosnia which have an ethnic Serbian majority. After the collapse of Yugoslavia, Muslim majority Bosnia voted for independence - this was not accepted by the Serbian minority within Bosnia -and led to the Bosnian civil war, which finally ended in 1995. This region now constitutes one of the two parts of Bosnia. The obverse features the coat of arms of Srpska - a double headed eagle, which is a common motif in Slavic (as well as Byzantine and Roman) emblems. The simple design of the note shows that it was brought out in a short time.
