100 Riyal banknote of Iran, issued in 1982 - this was one of the first issues to be printed after the Iranian Revolution of 1979. The obverse features the Imam Reza shrine in the city of Mashhad - Imam Reza is one of the most revered figures in Shia Islam. The reverse of the note features a madarsa, or a religious school, in the city of Ishfahan.
This was an early issue after the Iranian revolution - and the image of Reza Pahlavi has been replaced by a religious icon.
