2 Rupees, Sri Lanka, 1979

2 Rupee banknote of Sri Lanka, printed in 1979, issued by the Central Bank of Ceylon. The obverse features a Black Ruby Barb, a fish endemic to Sri Lanka, while the reverse features a Ceylon Lacewing butterfly and a lizard. The note features native fauna and flora of Sri Lanka - common to the entire 1979 series. This was also the last time a 2-rupee banknote was issued in Sri Lanka. The note carries three languages - Sinhala, Tamil and English.
