20 Riyal, Iran, Propaganda Note, 1982
Defaced 20 Riyal Iranian banknote. The original note was printed from 1974-79, during the reign of Mohammed Reza Pahlavi, the second and the last ruler of the Pahlavi dynasty, who was overthrown in 1979. The reverse features an Iranian dam.
The note has been defaced with a postage stamp commemorating Al Quds Day (Al Quds is the name for Jerusalem among Arabs). The cancellation says 'Don't with USA. Don't with Israel' - likely to be poorly translated Persian slogans 'Down with USA. Down with Israel'. Such defaced/propaganda notes were common in the aftermath of the Iranian revolution. The cancellation on the note, as well as the date on the stamp, is 1982. The note represents the longstanding hostility of Iranian regime towards the US and Israel.
Size: 130 mm*67 mm
