5 Dinar banknote of Kuwait, that circulated from 1968-1991. The obverse has the minaret of a mosque to the left and the coat of arms of Kuwait. The coat of arms features a dhow - a sailboat - commonly used in the Indian Ocean. The reverse of the note has a picture of the Seif Palace, an administrative center. 

Kuwait issued its first currency notes in 1961 - replacing the Persian Gulf Rupee. The first currency was issued by the Kuwait Currency board, and were replaced in 1968 by notes issued by the newly created Central Bank of Kuwait. These notes were demonetized in 1991 - In 1990, Kuwait was invaded an annexed by its larger neighbor Iraq, and large number of Kuwaiti banknotes were looted by the invading Iraqi forces. The invasion was eventually beaten back in early 1991 by a multinational force. Kuwait changed its currency soon after.
