5 Rupees, India, 1937, Graded PMG 63
Five rupee banknote of India, printed by the Reserve Bank of India in 1937, carrying the portrait of George VI on the obverse - these were the first notes printed during his reign. The notes carry the signature of JB Taylor, the second governor of RBI (1937-43), who was succeeded by CD Deshmukh. The watermark window is to the left and has an image of King George as the watermark. The reverse carries the denomination in eight Indian languages. The emblem of the RBI - the tiger + palm tree, is printed on the watermark window.
