5 Rupees, Pakistan, Bangla Issue (1972-75)
Five Rupee Banknote of Pakistan, printed from 1972-75. These notes still carry the inscription in Bangla - though they were printed after 1971, when East Pakistan became Bangladesh. This might be because Pakistan formally recognized Bangladeshi sovereignty in 1974. Subsequent issues (post 1975) are only in Urdu. The status of Bangla language within Pakistan was one of the issues that led to Bangladeshi nationalism, and the eventual partition of the country. The obverse has a portrait of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founding father of Pakistan, while the reverse features terraced fields on mountains, with tea plants.
Size: 128 mm* 73 mm
